ABOUT

Country Cottage Preschool is a nature based preschool that is designed to give your child the opportunity to connect with the earth and our beautiful surroundings. Fortunately, we are located on a 60+ acre farm which allows for the exploration that your child deserves.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Preschool aged children are at a critical time in their life. Each day they are expanding their knowledge. We believe that it is important to embrace the moments when a child is excited about learning. Nature provides both healing and health for our bodies both mentally and physically. We are proving that learning and nature can be fun; and together we are setting children up for a lifetime of health and happiness. Why not start to pattern our lives after this science, beginning in preschool?

Our sample schedule is as follows:

9:00 Welcome/ Feed Farm Animals

9:10 Circle Time

9:40 Free Play

10:30 Snack

10:50 Movement/Yoga/Stretching Gather

11:00 Nature Hike

11:45 Reflection

Our class covers the alphabet and a variety of themes, just as most traditional preschools. Each child can also identify the difference between a buttercup and scotch broom, the animals that live in a pond and forest, the life cycle of a frog, where eggs come from, how to respect the forest and the animals and bugs that live in it, and the list continues. With very small teacher to child ratios, we provide the opportunity to give your child the attention they need. For a sample of our curriculum that includes both scholastic and nature awareness please send a request on the contact us page.

ABOUT MS. AMANDA
Founder/Teacher

Every day I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to work with amazing children and teachers in a beautiful environment. Preschoolers thirst for knowledge and their excitement for discovery, enhances my desire to facilitate that learning. I have spent countless hours working with children and preparing the optimal learning environment, and I plan on spending countless more. I believe that to be successful, you must be motivated and inspired; and these wonderful preschoolers do just that for me.

Background

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, I began a Master's in Elementary Education and have over 50 higher education credits in the field. I have passed a criminal background check with the state (along with all of our staff here at Country Cottage) and completed a First Aid/CPR Class. Most importantly though, I love children and have created an exemplary curriculum that includes a traditional scholastic education with an emphasis on nature.

ABOUT THE FARM

We are located on 60+ acres that includes forest, ponds, and fields. Not only is there plenty of room to explore but we also have an outdoor classroom in our barn and a large outside play area. Our farm is constantly changing but for now we average about a half a dozen sheep which includes new lambs each spring. We also have a miniature horse named Minnie, the cutest goats ever, and of course our own preschool raised chickens. See below for some pictures of our animals!
